About Me
Melanie Nord (she/her)
It is an honor to be able to help families in their time of need whether it be grieving the loss of a loved one or sharing vows. I also have a passion for helping individuals experience the powerful and healing practice of Forest Bathing. As a nurturer at heart, I love and care for a collection of over two hundred plants, mother two daughters, two dogs and two cats. I work at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community as the Spiritual Life Leader. My passion is helping people live full, peaceful lives and also helping individuals navigate the end-of-life process. I have provided care to hundreds of individuals as they die and feel called to help families honor their loved ones through conversation, celebrations, gravesides, memorials or funerals after death occurs.
From 2012-2023 I served as an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Tradition. In that position I worked closely with local funeral homes and wedding venues to officiate a number of local services. I have also been a Prepare-Enrich Couples Facilitator and Midwest Trainer for over years helping couples grow in their communication skills and relationship satisfaction. In 2022, I gained my Forest Therapy Certification and now offer Forest Bathing in Manhattan and surrounding areas. I can also offer some of my services virtually. Statement of Inclusion
My services are open to all people equally. The Slow Spirit Sanctuary is a safe place for all identities, races and backgrounds. This is a place for both the deeply religious and decidedly non-religious. I have a great depth of experience working with people of all faiths and no faith.
